A behind the scenes look at the most recent Dark Timbers Short, Nature Calls.

Dark Timbers hit some local San Diego trails with rider Andre Pepin and posse in efforts to film the new DT campaign: Nature Calls: Go Ride Your Bike. Andre killed the trail and showed his steelo while the Dark Timbers team rolled footage.

The short was filmed over the course of a week and the schedule was pretty simple; sleep, eat, ride, and film.

The chaparral hills of San Diego provide some of the most diverse and challenging trails in America, and our trail of choice was no exception. We chose the 67 trail because just about everything will be thrown at the rider, making for some great visuals.

Dark Timbers’ 2nd film, “Nature Calls” did have a few speed bumps in the beginning. Originally Nick Wright (Dark Timbers President) was slated to be featured in the film but 4 jumps in, handlebars snapped and wrists were broken.

Unaffected, shooting resumed 2 days later. San Diego local Andre Pepin stepped in and brought a bag full of tricks and style with him.

Brought to you by people who share the love for the great outdoors.

Dark Timbers. Because nature calls. So go ride your bike.

-the Dark Timbers team

We do agree with you and usually just do riding only edits. But this video has its place, it is for this months contest we are putting on. It is suppose to have a story line to get the point across. But be looking for more "to the point" riding videos from us in the future. Thanks for the comment! Below is the Contest details.

Don't sit around and waste the day when you can be riding your bike. Take advantage of the environment that surrounds us and GO RIDE YOUR BIKE. Nature Calls.

For July's contest the folks at Dark Timbers have decided to step up the stakes. Send them an edit of you riding your bike and the winner gets a package filled with Dark Timbers product (Kevin S jacket, 2 T-shirts, new era hat, stickers, and a beanie). Get your cameras rolling. Send videos/links to darktimbers@gmail.com

whats wrong with socal?, there are loads of sick trails to ride(if you know where to find them), sure most require some work but if you really love riding is that an issue?

Umm yes I do love riding what kind of dumb question is that. But your gonna argue that the DH trails we have here can rival stuff like Whistler or northshore or heck even trails in Oregon and places that actually have woods!! I love SoCal and it is nice not havin to drive far to ride but I'm tired of tryin to build trails or findin a nice trail to ride and some a hole hicker or the city just comes and plows it down right away. I do apologise I shoulda started with I love some trails here but I'm over them. I'm over the half ass built stuff around here because theres no point in puttin a lot of time and effort into buildin something around here. I enjoy riding SoCal trails but when you see a video like this there is nothing like this around here. I'm over having to wait for every June (if we are lucky) or July for Mammoth to open. I want to be able to ride actual DH every day not every summer. Thats my only gripe with SoCal to be honest.

That little rainbow flash was due to an error in the rendering process for some reason. This was the best we could get it unfortunately.

What the hell are you editing on? That's the weirdest shit I have seen from a rendering error.

Final Cut, it had to do with the rendering of the color.
